Pool lights back under control

A new RF switch and lighting contactor gave the existing pool-light circuit a working control arrangement.

From diagnosis to a control plan

An earlier diagnostic visit showed the pool and spa lights could turn on when the faulty control was temporarily bypassed. The return visit focused on the pool-light circuit: a Lutron RF switch would operate the control, while a lighting contactor would carry the incandescent lighting load.

Installing the new arrangement

The crew removed the existing pool-light switch, installed the RF switch at the designated location, and rerouted the wiring to bring the contactor into the circuit. This separated the switching control from the component carrying the lighting load.

Checking the result

With the circuit energized, the crew verified line and load, checked the switch and contactor, and tested the pool lights on and off. The work notes record the lights responding correctly. The accompanying photograph shows the RF switch installed in its outdoor equipment box.
