Tracing a pool and spa lighting fault
A targeted test isolated the control problem and led to a follow-up repair of the pool-light controls.
Why the lights were off
The pool and spa lights were not responding through the existing Lutron Pico remote. Before recommending a control repair, the technician needed to find out whether the lighting circuits could still energize.
A test that narrowed the fault
At the switch location, the technician briefly bypassed the control for a diagnostic test. Both the pool and spa lights turned on. That pointed the investigation toward the control device and gave the crew a specific path for the return visit.
Following through on the pool lights
After discussing the repair options, the crew returned to replace the pool-light switch with a Lutron RF switch and add a contactor for the incandescent lighting load. They verified line and load, then tested the pool lights on and off successfully. For the spa lights, the recorded operating check is the earlier diagnostic test.
See the follow-up control installation for the installation and final pool-light check.
